While You Were Protesting Obamacare, Gun Control Sweeping Through Congress

HR 45, the Blair-Holt Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 has not gone away, despite our fixation on Obamacare. I know, Barry has stuffed so much CHANGE into the pipeline that you can’t keep up with everything.

Nonetheless, H.R. 45, offered up by Congressman Bobby Rush, (a Chicago politician), would require a federal license for all handguns and semiautomatics, including those you currently possess. It would require handgun and semi-auto owners to be thumb-printed at the police station, and to sign a certificate stating that you would keep the weapon unloaded. THAT will sure help out the criminals.

In addition, this bill will require that anyone owning a firearm to undergo psychiatric examinations at their own expense. H.R. 45 even covers “crimes of omission.” A gun owner can be convicted of a crime if they forget to submit some piece of info to the government (or if the government “loses it”. I’ve experienced the government “losing” something before, and I imagine I’m not the only one.)

The Act also exempts all government employees. Section 801 states: “This Act and the amendments made by this Act shall not apply to any department or agency of the United States, of a State, or of a political subdivision of a State, or to any official conduct of any officer or employee of such a department or agency.”

Some say this legislation won’t pass. I prefer to remain vigilant against it and other Second Amendment infringement attempts, until said legislation is killed. You can’t possess a gun in Chicago, after all, and we all know the “Chicago Way” is definitely Obama’s way. Don’t be fooled by naysayers.
