URGENT!! Last Chance To Stop H.B. 1388, The Gift Act, Obama’s Service Corps

Forget about freaking AIG for a day, and look at what’s important right this second! Up at bat in the Senate is H.R. 1388, Obama’s Civil Service Corps. The Gift Act. Debate is on, and there’s a procedural vote at 6pm. ET today. This is an ODIOUS piece of legislation, that will cost (they say) about $6 Billion. The cost is the LEAST odious part of this bill.

The newly created bureaucracy in the bill will, in my opinion, be Obama’s vehicle for a significant part of the job creation he’s promised America, and huge expansions of government into the workforce. It reserves the ability to make “service” mandatory. It prohibits, via Amendment 49, “volunteers” in the corps from teaching Sunday school, or supporting any faith-based organization. It steps WELL down the path of stripping our First Amendment right to assemble away; “volunteers” are prohibited from participating in any kind of protest or attempt to influence legislation. And it’s quite clear that faith-based organizations will NOT be getting any help from Obama’s new posse.
