A massive global energy reform plan from the UN would redistribute national wealth…by radically altering world economies via climate-change initiatives. Right Soup has the Convention For Climate Change’s Information Note here. 16 pages long, but don’t forget the Red Bull. Fox News initially published the note, much to the outrage of the commission. Fox details that:

( The note) will be distributed to a major environmental conclave next week envisions a huge reordering of the world economy, likely involving trillions of dollars in wealth transfer, millions of job losses and gains, new taxes, industrial relocation, new tariffs and subsidies, and complicated payments for greenhouse gas abatement schemes and carbon taxes — all under the supervision of the world body.

This plan goes FAR beyond the Kyoto Treaty. The note discusses the measures that industrialized countries will likely have to take to implement the Copenhagen Accord, the successor to the Kyoto Treaty, after it is negotiated and signed by December 2009. The Obama administration has said it supports the treaty if the UN can come up with an “effective framework” for dealing with global warming.

Getting this deal done has become the U.N.’s highest priority. The consequences of these negotiations, if enacted, would be nothing short of world-changing. Among the proposed tools are the cap-and-trade system for controlling carbon emissions that Obama adores… “carbon taxes” on imported fuels and energy-intensive goods and industries, including airline transportation; and lower subsidies for those same goods, as well as new or higher subsidies for goods that are considered “environmentally sound.”

Other tools include vague “energy policy reforms,” which the report indicates could affect “large-scale transportation infrastructure such as roads, rail and airports.” The note says that cap-and-trade schemes “may induce some industrial relocation” to “less regulated host countries.” Good news for China! There are a host of other new taxes like a “border carbon adjustment”, which can impose “a levy on imported goods equal to that which WOULD have been imposed, had they been produced domestically” under assumed stricter environmental regimes.

The lunacy goes on and on. If implemented, our global trade would be completely controlled by the U.N. The redistribution of national GDP would be massive, and could decimate industries like airlines and travel. This push has a good chance of succeeding, as it’s right in line with Obama’s declared philosophies and objectives. Welcome to the New World Order.
