Today’s Spending Bill Spotlight: $300 Million For Golf Carts

Democrats thought they could sneak $300 million in the Porkulus bill past the American public by renaming this money, earmarked for GOLF CARTS in the stimulus bill, as paying for “neighborhood electric vehicles” and “low speed motor vehicles.” Manufacturers call ‘em NEV’s for short. Most people call them golf carts.
$300 million is being allocated by the Senate to buy “NEV’s” and other forms of environmentally friendly transportation like hybrid cars. It’s right there on page 96 of the massive 778-page bill. You can look it up…the bill is below. Here is what it says:
ENERGY-EFFICIENT FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE FLEET PROCUREMENT: For capital expenditures and necessary expenses of acquiring motor vehicles with higher fuel economy, including: hybrid vehicles; neighborhood electric vehicles; electric vehicles; and commercially-available, plug-in hybrid vehicles, $300,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2011.
This is just another example of the non-stimulative expenditures in this disastrous proposed legislation. Obama is flying around today, beating the spending drum at town hall meetings, and will be on TV tonight trying to scare the crap out of the public again with lies about economics and the bill. Do not take the bait. Remember to contact your Senators and Representatives today, for time is very short. Debate will start around 1 pm ET, noon CT. Give Harry Reid and San Fran Nan Pelosi a ring and an email as well!

wow 300 million on NEV’s huh. that’s alot of golf carts. it is almost like they planned to buy other things too say “electric vehicles; and commercially-available, plug-in hybrid vehicles, $300,000,000″ from you article. i guess the way you have written this i would have to arguee that spending 1 billion dollars every 48 hours to fly accross the sea and beat people up is silly. but that isn’t he truth either since that 1 billion worth of 48 hours contains hours of humanitarian aid and rebuilding. I’m not quite sure anyone can take these articles seriously the way they are written then self sabotaged.

@highthoughts: Looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, about as safe to DRIVE as a duck= DUCK. Wanna put a bunch of electric vehicles on the road easily? Make golf-carts street-legal. Simple, and about as stimulative as this crap.

Electric Golf Cart can be a very rewarding and relaxing way to ride around in. I like the Electric Golf Cart pictures and good info. keep it up.
