[...] H.R. 875 is barreling through Congress, and one of the chief beneficiaries of the sweeping new food regulations it creates will be agri-giant Monsanto. The bill is said to have been ghost-written by the company, and Americans are largely unaware of this looming power grab by it and the Obama administration. The bill would likely bankrupt small farmers, and organic farmers could be put out of business by the “best scientific practices” rules it contains. The enormous new agency created by the bill will determine what those practices are, and they could be pesticide and antibiotic use in the name of “safety.” The bill’s language is so broad, it will give authority over everything involved in “food” to the new Food Safety Agency. Technically, even your home garden is included. [...]

If anyone thinks that the current system of food safety is working, then you have rocks in your head. If Monsanto helped write the bill, it must have been on the GOP side. Our food is certainly not safe for consumption. Something needs to be done. Hey, how about a tax cut to make our food more safe? That seems to be the only answer the conservatives have.
