Senate Debates Earmark-Filled Omnibus Bill: Full Text Of H.R. 1105
Email This Post
The Senate is now debating the Omnibus spending bill, H.R. 1105…this is the giant bloated leftover from last year that is filled with almost 9000 earmarks. As funding for the government runs out on Friday, Congress is trying to bum-rush this mess through just like all the past travesties. Once again, no one has read the whole thing.
Hidden amongst the earmarks are several key policy changes including changes to travel from the US to Cuba, changes which allow Planned Parenthood to buy certain drugs cheaply and sell them at a profit, and changes which support China’s “one child” rule. There are major overlaps in funding between HR1105 and the Porkulus, and the two together represent an 80% increase in spending over last year. Incredible.
Republicans are attempting to pass an amendment that would eliminate this bill, and replace it with a continuing resolution which would fund government through the end of the fiscal year Sept. 30th. The amendment would freeze spending at last year’s level.
Illinois boy, Democrat Majority Whip Dick Durbin is using up oxygen talking about the island of Cyprus, and how they are trying to find some missing people. This is how freaking OUT OF TOUCH our government has become, and a perfect illustration of our disenfranchisement.
