61 Senators just voted to advance the Porkulus Bill, with the “bi-partisan” modifications put forward by Republican Senators Nelson and Collins. GOP Senator Kit Bond put it best, saying “The only thing grand about the ‘Grand Compromise’ is the price tag.” And from Senator Jim Demint’s office comes this fun fact: The Senate ‘Compromise’ Stimulus INCREASES Spending in Over 130 Programs. The Congressional Budget Office breaks it down, and says it’s by almost $20 billion dollars.

The bill is expected to go for a final vote in the Senate tomorrow. The massive mess is below, and it smells like burnt bacon with ham sauce. I watched CSPAN as Democratic Senators bloviated on and on, and seemed especially fond of a visual of a bunch of people lined up for 35 firefighter jobs.

The Barry Obama show comes to prime-time tonight, so expect a lot more of the campaigning he’s been doing in favor of Porkulus, complete with special horror effects. Tomorrow, Treasury Secretary Geithner will be asking for at least $1.3 Trillion more for the banks.

Keep contacting Congress about the spending bill AND the dough Geithner wants. Your response has been awesome so far! Please be sure to let the turncoat Republicans Collins, Snowe and Specter know how you feel about their sellout “compromise.”

The spending bill will be going back to the House to attempt to work out the differences between the Senate and House versions. Congress- listen to the American people! Support for this insanity is small, and is dropping like a rock with each passing hour. Americans For Prosperity’s “no stimulus” petition is receiving MASSIVE response. Sign it if you haven’t already, and tell your friends. Oh, and if you happen to be in Ft. Myers, Florida tomorrow, there is a “Stop The Stimulus” Protest March. So without further ado…drumroll… here’s the latest version of Porkulus.

HR 1 Nelson Collins
