Russia’s Medvedev Unveils “One World Currency” At G-8
Email This Post

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev called for a global currency to replace the dollar by pulling from his pocket a sample coin of a “united future world currency.” The coin bears the words “unity in diversity,” was minted in Belgium and presented to the heads of G-8 delegations.
The Russian leader has repeatedly called for creating a mix of regional reserve currencies as part of a solution for the global financial crisis- and has questioned our dollar’s future as a global reserve currency.
At the G-20 meeting in April, Russia’s proposals included the creation of a global currency. At the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) meeting last month the U.S.’s request for an invitation was denied, while trade agreements excluding use of the dollar were forged between the attending countries.
Medvedev’s coin, which bears the words “unity in diversity,” was minted in Belgium and presented to the heads of G-8 delegations. He declared:
The question of a supranational currency concerns everyone now, even the mints. The test coin means they’re getting ready. I think it’s a good sign that we understand how interdependent we are.
This is coming, dear readers, and will be another irreversible legacy of the Obama administration. Our sovereignty is being slaughtered on the alters of global parliaments.
