Rahm’s Brother Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel: The Death Czar
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, brother of Rahm Emanuel and Obama’s Health Policy Adviser, announced a new “Complete Lives System” for selecting which sections of the population should be killed, in his article “Principles for Allocation of Scarce Medical Interventions.”. His writings were published Jan. 31, 2009 (THIS YEAR!) in the British medical journal Lancet…11 days after President Obama’s inauguration.
On March 19, Emanuel was appointed to the Federal Coordinating Council on Comparative Effectiveness Research, to begin the design of a Federal system for withdrawing care from those chosen for death. Dr. Emanuel provides a preview of how such a system will get started…
“Such an approach accepts a two-tiered health system-some citizens will receive only basic services while others will receive both basic and some discretionary health services… Substantively, it suggests services that promote the continuation of the polity-those that ensure healthy future generations, ensure development of practical reasoning skills, and ensure full and active participation by citizens in public deliberations-are to be socially guaranteed as basic. Conversely, services provided to individuals who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens are not basic and should not be guaranteed. An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia.”
Emanuel’s cold, academic language can’t disguise his philosophies’ resemblances to Adolf Hitler’s. Here’s how Emanuel sums up who is to be treated, and who is to die:
“When implemented, the complete lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most substantial chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated.” This may be justified by public opinion, since “broad consensus favours adolescents over very young infants, and young adults over very elderly people.”
Of course, the elderly won’t be the only ones killed. Infants are at the top of his list as well.
“Strict youngest-first allocation directs scarce resources predominantly to infants. This approach seems incorrect. The death of a 20-year-old woman is intuitively worse than that of a 2-month-old girl, even though the baby has had less life. The 20-year-old has a much more developed personality than the infant, and has drawn upon the investment of others to begin as-yet-unfulfilled projects…. Adolescents have received substantial substantial education and parental care, investments that will be wasted without a complete life. Infants, by contrast, have not yet received these investments…. It is terrible when an infant dies, but worse, most people think, when a three-year-old child dies, and worse still when an adolescent does.”
Dr. Death doesn’t spare older children:
“The ‘complete lives’ system also considers prognosis, since its aim is to achieve complete lives. A young person with a poor prognosis has had few life-years but lacks the potential to live a complete life. Considering prognosis forestalls the concern that disproportionately large amounts of resources will be directed to young people with poor prognoses.”
Emanuel the “reformer” assures us that unlike other death-selection systems, “the complete lives system is least vulnerable to corruption. Age can be established quickly and accurately from identity documents.” So, our National Eugenics system, paired with our National Health-Care system will be free of corruption?!! I have some oceanfront property in Arizona for sale…
Even more data-points go into the calculation on whether you are worthy to live. It’s very important to Dr. Emanuel that you be politically correct, so future generations of Obamabots are assured:
“Social Value Allocation” prioritizes specific individuals to enable them to promote other important values, or rewards them for having promoted these values. In view of the multiplicity of reasonable values in society and in view of what is at stake, social value allocation must not legislate socially conventional, mainstream values.”
Your job will figure into Dr. Death’s calculations as well:
“Allocators must also avoid directing interventions earmarked for health needs to those not relevant to the health problem at hand, which covertly exacerbates scarcity. For instance, funeral directors might be essential to preserving health in an influenza pandemic, but not during a shortage of intensive-care beds. For instance, former organ donors seem to deserve reciprocity since they make a serious sacrifice and since there is no surplus of organ donors. By contrast, laboratory staff who serve as vaccine production workers do not incur serious risk nor are they irreplaceable, so reciprocity seems less appropriate for them.”
Oh, I think funeral directors will be in BIG demand under Obamacare and “Complete Lives.” Don’t get me started on Obama’s “Science Czar”, John Holdren. Besides advocating forced abortions and sterilizations- he doesn’t consider you a human even AFTER you are born…you must be “properly fed and socialized” before you win that prize.
Our legislators are coming home for an August break from all the hard work they do on our behalf. It is our job to see that it is the hottest ‘effin August they have ever seen. Wear their asses OUT. Go to their town-hall meetings, and if they aren’t holding any…shame them into doing so. Call, call, call. Write, write, write. You can find their home office contact info here. Protest outside their offices. We have to stop this horrific insanity.

The term ‘monstrous’ comes to mind. I barely find this believable. There’s a book/movie called Logan’s run where all the adults are KILLED at age 21 (25 in the movie), they were expected to voluntarily show up and be put to sleep like animals, and if they didn’t, big brother hunted them down. It’s a great read, and the movie is good for 70s era film. 1984 used to be the nightmare, but it’s looking like that’s reality and Logan’s Run is the new “nightmare we’re headed for”.

I agree, Keith. This is absolute lunacy. Unbelievable that this is what is being suggested by this Hitlerite. I shudder to think what will be next, with this to build upon?

Communism + Nazis with a liberal splash of Mussolini…= approaching the Obama administration. This is not a bad dream, folks. Nip it. In the bud. Now. Vote them all out, if we must…and I’m really thinking we must. God have mercy on us all, because we desperately need it.

What surprise should there be ? None, really. The democrat party has professed murdering babies in the womb since the 70′s.
Obama’s buddy that launched his pol career Bill Ayers is one of our demostic Weathermen terrorists.
The democrats love that life and death thing – kill babies, blow up “the man”, have endless communist ties and deny them, paint every republican a nazi when the dem policies murder more innocents RIGHT NOW than “GWB’s” war (which the dems pushed and voted for under Clinton and Bush) did the whole time.
These quotes come from LANCET JOURNAL – the same piece of lib trash deal that shrieked Bush murdered 1,000,000 Iraqis when the new Iraq government count was ~25,000 total.
Our modern democrats are depraved, murderous, brainwashed, communist liars. Theyt are soooo smart, and soooo educated – they can murder babies and tell themselves and everyone else “noone really knows if it is a human being”.
I’ve had it with the democrats, the whole lot em, and the republicans are not far behind.

What an unfair, misleading post. Dr. Emmanuel’s article was limited to the special case where transplant organs or lifesaving vaccines are in short supply and there are more eligible recipients than there are organs or vaccines. Why did you deliberately choose not to mention that fact? Did you think it would be more or less misleading to not let your readers know that the Lancet article concerned only situations in which there are fewer available transplant organs or life-saving vaccines than there are recipients? You also neglect to note that severe, unfair, arbitrary rationing occurs every single day in the American health care system because millions of American families do not have health insurance. Lose your job, and you lose your access to medical care. How can you possibly defend the justice of such a system? How could it possibly be more just than the current reform proposals

Dr. Emanuel writes about rationing medical resources in restricted resource scenarios. Do you seriously think we aren’t going to face continued financial woes in our economy due to massive government spending? That such woes will not place us in a restricted-resource scenario?! The short-term “fix” (which hasn’t fixed anything) is the enemy of the long-term solution. It is an outright lie that 47m Americans are without health care. Those who want government to control Americans’ life and death include 20 millions illegals in that number—so 1) they are not Americans; 2) they are not entitled to benefits paid for by hardworking Americans.
They also include in that number people who are uninsured for even a month or two–as those who are switching jobs or those in the 18-34 range who choose not to purchase insurance. (Note, most of these people get health insurance when they change jobs or get married and have children.)
No one goes without treatment because they don’t have insurance–hospitals are REQUIRED BY LAW to treat people. Many hospitals have gone bankrupt because of all the illegals coming across the border and getting treated and/or coming over and having their babies here.
If you don’t believe the Lancet article shines enough light on the policies Dr. Emanuel advocates, check out another of his writings…The Ends of Human Life: Medical Ethics in a Liberal Polity, where he advocates a commutarian system of health care delivery and panels who oversee life and death allocations of resources. Before you pimp Ezekiel Emanuel…read what he writes. Interestingly, at Amazon, the book most bought by people who buy Ezekiel’s books is Saul Alinsky’s “Rules For Radicals”–Obama, ACORN, the Tides Foundation etc.’s bible.

Erin – I am pleased you havge chosen to engage on this. There has been a great deal of shouting past one another on the topic of health reform, and not a lot of actual adult discussion. So it is good to see you making an on-point response, even if you felt you had add gratuitous snark at the end about my “pimping” for someone I have never met and to whom I have no connection.
Unfortunately, you continue to perpetuate nasty, unfair smears about a dedicated oncologist whom you nastily label a “Death Czar.” Your logic is as follows: 1. Dr. Emanuel wrote about the special case of how to allocate severely restricted numbers of transplant organs and vaccines among large numbers of eligible recipients. 2. Providing health insurance reform will inevitably lead to “continued financial woes” because the government will engage in “massive government spending” on health care. (I thought the problem would be that the government would spend too little rather than too much, but let that go for moment.) 3. Ergo, Dr. Emanuel is in favor of applying to the entire American health care system the special allocation principles he suggested be applied to the unique cases of transplant organs and vaccines. Erin, no fair-minded person reading this blog would accept such faulty logic. You have unfairly smeared a distinguished healer who has spent most of his career wrestling with some of life’s most intractable problems. You and I might disagree on the best way to provide affordable health care to our fellow Americans. But surely the decent thing to do is to simply acknowledge that calling Dr. Emanuel a “Death Czar” and claiming that his paper on transplant organs System” is actually a plan “for selecting which sections of the population should be killed” was horribly unfair and that false witness should not be borne against a distinguished doctor.

Wow – just crickets in here. Oh well, at least I tried.

Hi nyp. This site is not a very busy site, so I would recommend you should be patient waiting for Erin’s response to your post. I love how you attack Erin for saying you’re pimping Ezekiel by the way. That’s not hypocritical of you at all. Also beautifully cliche liberal of you to immediately go to an Ad Hominem attack. I wouldn’t blame Erin for not replying to you at all, after all, this is her site and she doesn’t need to dignify insults with a response if she chooses not to.
I can attempt to answer your liberal talking points. Which is amusing as well, because you state you’d love an adult conversation, but then spew only talking points instead of your own independent thoughts.
1. Yes, he wrote about that. He also wrote about forced sterilization and sterilizing agents in the drinking water. Forced abortions, euthanasia and eugenics are some other things he wrote about, but inconvenient truths and liberals just never have gotten along.
2. You assume that the government can sustainably insure all 300 million of it’s citizens and an additional 20 million illegal aliens without incurring massive new spending. No rational, logical person can honestly believe that. You believe the talk that there won’t be rationing of care, but again logically, you simply cannot provide full service medical care to 300 million citizens with federal funds and not ration care. Then there’s the fact that there is rationing of care in both the UK and Canada as a result of socialized medicine, what would make us different?
3. Here you again apply your narrow view, ignoring the rest of Ezekiel’s insane writings to accuse Erin of being logically unsound. Dr. Emmanuel is on record many times saying that people will be evaluated on a curve, the very young and very old being worth less than a middle aged person, and therefore receiving lower priority care.
Your problem is you believe only the talking points and refuse to open your eyes to the truth, like your fellow liberal ilk. You believe what you’re told and blindly follow Barry like he’s a messiah. You refuse to ask questions or think for yourself. You refuse to do your own digging and learn. Instead you twist Erin’s words and distort facts to arrive at the logical conclusions you want, all so your messianic delusions about Barry and his thugs doesn’t fall apart around you.
