Pelosi Reid Pork Spending

This morning Nancy Pelosi spoke on CBS’ “Early Show” and unsurprisingly broadcast misleading information regarding yesterday’s steadfast response of “no” by House Republicans. Let’s breakdown the lies:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says that while critics may quibble with some elements of spending in the $819 billion economic rescue plan, Democrats were willing to act — and Republicans were not.

Wrong. Republicans were neither consulted on the Dems’ spending plan proposal nor were any of their own alternative plans included in the final bill. Republicans acted and acted promptly. Democrats shut them out. So yes, “Democrats were willing to act,” but only in their own self-interests.

Discussing the plan that the House approved on a strictly party line vote, Pelosi acknowledged Republican criticism that large sums of money are set aside for favored Democratic programs such as aid to education and Medicare. But she said “we are definitely stepping up to the plate to say we’ll be accountable.”

What do Democrats’ pet projects have to do with stimulating the economy? Next to nothing, if not completely nothing. Democrats have taken advantage of Americans’ fears and concerns on the economy to ramrod this $1 TRILLION+ spending plan through Congress that is stuffed with pork.

The California Democrat also said that Republicans are failing on the policy aspects of reviving the struggling economy.

The only reason Republicans are “failing on policy aspects” is because the Democrats are shutting them out. That’s like breaking someone’s legs and then blaming them for not walking fast enough to keep up with you.

In an interview broadcast Thursday on CBS’s “The Early Show,” Pelosi said Republicans “have had their chance. They decided to oppose. That’s their choice.”

Damn right. This mess is wholly owned by Pelosi. It was House Republicans choice to stand against wasting tax payers’ money and they did the right thing. Republicans aren’t against economic stimulus. They’re against doing it the wrong way.
