Experts at the IAEA, the world’s top atomic watchdog, agree that Iran has the ability to make a nuclear bomb right now. Iran is also on the way to developing a missile system fully able to carry an atomic warhead, according to the AP.

The IAEA officials said in a leaked document that Iran has “sufficient information” to build a bomb, and is likely to “overcome problems” on developing a delivery system for them. The document, titled “Possible Military Dimension of Iran’s Nuclear Program,” appears to be the so-called “secret annex” on Iran’s nuclear program the U.S. has believed is being withheld by the IAEA’s chief.

Meanwhile, either due to stunningly bad timing or a just don’t give a crap attitude — Barack Obama just hung Europe, particularly our staunch allies Poland and Czechoslovakia, out to dry. (He didn’t do us any favors either. He’s made a downright dangerous change in policy– to take a proven missile defense system away from Eastern Europe, and put a lesser, mobile system in. In typical outrageous fashion, Obama made the announcement on the anniversary of Poland being invaded.

Russia has placed enormous negative pressure on the U.S. because of the European missile defense shield. (All while they sell arms to our enemies.) Obama, of course, says he didn’t cave to any Rusky pressure, and that it didn’t influence his decision. Yes, he actually said that. The New York Times, incidentally, reported in March that Obama cut a secret deal with the Russians about just this type of scenario. So who is telling the truth?

The new system is being touted as being more effective against short to medium range missiles. So, if another European country decides to lob one into Poland, perhaps there will be some protection for our friends. Good luck defending against the bigger boys.

The House of Representatives has voted to cut off all federal funding to ACORN. The roll call was 345 Ayes, 75 Nay, 2 Present, 2 No Vote. Check out the vote breakdown here.

Hopefully someone told Nancy Pelosi; she said yesterday that she’s clueless about the Senate amendment which passed overwhelmingly on Monday. It would cut off all housing funding to ACORN.

“I don’t even know what they passed,” Pelosi told The Post yesterday. “What did they do? They defunded it?”

Imagine Pelosi struggling with all her might to raise her eyebrows…because she REALLY wants too. She wants to frown too, and she is…but the Botox dictates it be on the inside.

The passage of Senator Johann’s amendment to suspend housing grants was a stunning blow to the lefty community-activist mafia group — and came as some Democrats and the White House have been backing away from the group. We’ll update this story- we’re looking into the House’s just-passed amendment to the appropriations bill to see if it leaves any loot-loopholes for ACORN and its alphabet soup of ancillary organizations.

You may not know it, but federal law requires that all high schools, colleges and universities that receive federal funds, along with all federal employees, hold an educational event about the Constitution on Constitution Day, September 17. What kind of education will our kiddies receive about our most important founding document?

The lefty Annenberg Foundation (where Bill Ayers and Barack Obama served on the board together) helpfully provides educational material! A 2-disc set containing videos on the Constitution was sent to all members of the Annenberg Classroom mailing list, the principals of every public high school in the country, law school deans, federal judges and public libraries.

Bill Ayers calls for the end of capitalism every time he gets in front of a microphone. What kind of propaganda will your kid’s school use today? Hopefully they will learn the truth. Have a conversation with them when you get home.

San Diego’s ACORN offices were in their viewfinders this time, but their story remained the same. A pimp, who wants to run for Congress, and his head ‘Ho, want to traffic in some young girls from El Salvador to work in their brothel. Will ACORN help them out? Damn straight they will. They’ll even suggest the best place to smuggle the girls in from!

Even Jon Stewart agrees that the mainstream media has utterly failed on the ACORN scandals.

Will ACORN trainer, attorney and Organizer In Chief Obama throw them under the Jeremiah Wright bus? Count on him trying. Don’t settle for the Van Jones treatment, though. I know, I know, it’s hard to believe there could be MORE undercover video evidence of ACORN corruption coming…but there is. While I wait to bring it to you, here’s a peek at the organization and its massive political reach from Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government.

Part of ACORN’s rotten core includes a very cozy relationship with Big Labor. In fact, in many instances ACORN and Big Labor are one and the same. In 2008, Big Labor funneled ACORN millions of dollars for so-called organizing activity. But, that is only the tip of the Big Labor iceberg.

ACORN controls or significantly dominates several Big Labor unions and organizations. ACORN created and controls SEIU 100 (Gulf Region) and SEIU 880 (a recently expanded SEIU mega-local that covers Chicago, Illinois, Indiana, and Kansas).

ACORN founder S. Wade Rathke referred to mega-union SEIU 880 as “one of the pillars of the ACORN Family.” Service Employees International Union (SEIU) President Andy Stern hand picked ACORN’s Rathke to direct SEIU’s nationwide organizing projects.

An internal ACORN memo disclosed by Michelle Malkin provides more insight into the ACORN-Big Labor collaboration:

WHICH CORPORATIONS? Local 100 was nurtured by ACORN, but I think US Labor law prevents ACORN from interfering in Local 100 affairs. And it is not clear that ACORN wants to bother with Local 100 anymore, except to collect money Local 100 has borrowed from ACORN affiliates (some $250,000). There are some Local 100 subsidiaries which ACORN probably doesn’t care about, e.g., some Baton Rouge Teachers organizations, a couple Texas organizations…. they are nonprofits set up to TRY to represent workers who are not allowed to organize themselves into collective bargaining units. I assume ACORN is ready to let these go to Local 100.

–L100. To what extent does the Local 100 Board and Local 100 members know about the perfidy of their Chief Organizer? Do they know how hokey their LM-2 filings are?

–DOL and Local 100. To what extent should ACORN monitor Local 100 activities and filings and report them to the DOL? Apparently a new election of Local 100 officers is due to happen in September 2008.

–Local 100’s debts. An initial review of Local 100’s LM-2’s suggests that Local 100 owes some $250,000 to ACORN affiliates. When will those debts be called in?

–CCI. [received union funds, provided bookkeeping for SEIU 880 in Chicago] The point here is that if ACORN wants nothing to do with WR [Wade Rathke], then presumably CCI needs to terminate its contracts with any WR tainted organization. These conflict of interest issues are about to come to a head with CCI attorneys. So far our model has been “Well, in the past we wait to see if conflict can be worked out—THEN we worry.” In the past conflict has been resolved. In the present crisis the CCI lawyers may have to face these issues shortly. As an ethical if not a legal matter, the whole of CCI will have to face these issues also.

–WARN. [received union funds] This corporation is WAL-MART ALLIANCE FOR REFORM NOW, INC., and its Board members are –Wade Rathke, 3810 Burgundy Street, New Orleans, LA, 70117; –Rick Smith, 1344 W Cass St, Tampa, FL, 33606; and –Tamecka Pierce, 6537 Chantry St, Orlando, FL, 32835. The corporate name somewhat resembles ACORN’s. If it is a membership organization I find it hard to believe it is anything more than laughable. However, it may have a lot of grant money from some people somewhere? Bottom line is I don’t know much about this, and I don’t know if ACORN should care, or how to find out if ACORN should care.

–Acorn Institute. [received union funds] I think this is clearly an ACORN corporation, but I have to observe that it seems to me that WR has been trying to fill it with shills. I think it is one of ACORN’s major 501c3s, and control of it needs to be monitored

–ACLOC. [received union funds] I think control of this organization is up for grabs, but the more critical question is who gets business from SEIU and ACORN. One could almost give this to WR because it’s worthless without business—yet if ACORN gave it to him it would have to be under the condition that the ACORN name was deleted. By way of additional information, WR seems to have founded a “CLOC” in Florida a while back. Maybe ACORN should keep ACLOC and WR should see what he can do with CLOC.

–ARC . [received union funds] This used to be a key 501c3 feeder for labor projects. Right now the Board supposedly consists of Steve Bachmann and Mildred Edmond. And Dale Rathke and Cornelia have supposedly left this Board. ACORN should advise Wade Rathke that this corporation is going to be cleaned up, and should probably be closed down. Steve Bachmann is going to ensure that if WR wants to try any tricks with this corporati[o]n, then WR is going to find his Mumsy is going to be very VERY upset.

–SEXUAL HARASSMENT. Mitch Klein has filed a complaint against Chaco Rathke for harassment, and against Wade, Beth and Dine for retaliation. It is not clear that these items are subject to much negotiations, because they are matters of law. Depending upon what Alex Mora finds and recommends, ACORN will have to take whatever steps will pass muster with the EEOC, the DOL, and ultimately, the Courts. Another player in this play is EFC, because as landlord EFC must provide its tenants with safe environments, that don’t have its property managers engaging in sexual harassment, and that don’t allow its tenants to intimate other tenants. Again, much of this will turn on what Alex Mora finds, and generally what the law requires. ACORN has little room for negotiation or discretion here, but since it involves the Rathkes, its existence must be acknowledged and noted.

(Note: According to two conflict-of-interest reports filed at the U.S. Labor Department, ACORN’s SEIU 100 actually had a union position called “child of the chief organizer” listed. Better view the reports now, because the Obama Labor Department is busy eliminating future conflict-of-interest reporting by union officers and employees.)

Stay tuned for more ACORN expose’ today. This organization, its ancillary orgs and its alphabet soup of accomplices need to be prosecuted and shut down. They’ve had MORE than 3 strikes.

In response to the recent undercover videos of ACORN employees trying to help people skirt tax laws and run child sex-trafficking businesses, ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis announced that the group had stopped accepting new tax clients as of noon today while an internal investigation is undertaken. Bertha, as you may recall, was brought in to clean up the group after voter registration fraud was found to be rampant in the organization. Guess she hasn’t made much progress. This is a PR stunt, as ACORN is far more than a tax assistance group. Nonetheless, in a release today, Lewis said:

“As a result of the indefensible action of a handful of our employees, I am, in consultation with ACORN’s Executive Committee’, immediately ordering a halt to any new intakes into ACORN’s service programs until completion of an independent review. I have also communicated with ACORN’s independent Advisory Council, and they will assist ACORN in naming an independent auditor and investigator to conduct a thorough review of all of the organizations relevant systems and processes. That reviewer, to be named within 48 hours, will make recommendations directly to me and to the full ACORN Board. We enter this process with a commitment that all recommendations will be implemented.”

Lewis also ordered in-service training for all “front-line staff” within 48 hours. No doubt, these people will be taught how to spot hidden cameras. ACORN is still offering mortgage loan modification counseling. More outrageous video from ACORN in San Diego is coming this afternoon from our favorite nut-busters. Stay tuned!

Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) unveiled the mark-up draft of his new $856 billion dollar health care reform proposal today. He calls it the “America’s Health Future Act.” You can read the text here on Right Soup.

The plan mandates individuals must have health insurance, with fines of $3,800 for non-compliance. It provides for a government run insurance exchange, and a government initiated Co-Op. It has $349 billion in new taxes and fees, $507 billion in cuts to government programs including Medicare. It proposes a 35% tax on “Cadillac Plans.” No tort reform is included; instead the plan provides for a toothless “sense of the Senate” resolution saying it would be a nice idea. Whatever.

No Republicans have signed on to this one, and the “Gang Of 6” who were attempting a bi-partisan health care reform proposal are noticeably absent too.

The bill was swiftly denounced by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who complained it would cut Medicare, which provides insurance to the elderly, and impose new tax burdens on families and small businesses.

Sen. Baucus defended his proposal, saying:

“What we can do is seize this opportunity to put America back on a fiscally sustainable path. The Senate Finance Committee proposal builds on what already works and fixes what threatens to break the bank for future generations.”

McConnell countered with:

“Only in Washington would anyone think that makes sense, especially in this economy,” he said, adding taxpayers don’t want “yet another thousand-page, trillion-dollar government program.”

The measure would broaden eligibility for Medicaid, the existing federal-state health program for the poor, and it would create a new national insurance exchange, where individuals and small businesses can purchase insurance. Individuals and families would be required to purchase insurance and would face penalties for not doing so.

Those at the lower end of the income ladder, and who aren’t on Medicaid, would receive federal tax subsidies to defray the cost. The subsidies, in the form of a refundable tax credit, would be granted to individuals and families with incomes up to 300% of poverty. For those with incomes from 300% to 400% of poverty, the bill would cap annual insurance premiums at 13% of income. Even liberal critics say that level is too large and would expose middle-income families to big new expenses.

The bill would levy a new 35% excise tax on high-dollar insurance plans. These are plans with values above $8,000 for individuals and $21,000 for families. The premium tax would take effect in 2013 and raise $215 billion over 10 years, according to a preliminary estimate from the Joint Committee on Taxation.

The bill would also levy a total of $93 billion in fees on health-care-related industries over 10 years. Big Pharma would face an annual assessment of $2.3 billion, medical-device manufacturers $4 billion and health insurers $6 billion, all determined by a firm’s market share.

The plan would now go to the Senate Finance Committee, where no one is presently on board. The Obama administration, however, has indicated that it likes the idea. Surely this is because the government Co-Ops and Insurance Exchange will serve to get its nose under the tent, and pave the way for massive more government control. Harry Reid is on record as saying that he is more than willing to ram health care reform through without bi-partisan support, using the odious practice of reconciliation.

No surprise to the Right Soup, but the Obama administration has privately concluded that a cap and trade law would cost American taxpayers up to $200 billion a year, the equivalent of hiking personal income taxes by about 15 percent.

A previously unreleased analysis prepared by the U.S. Department of Treasury says the total in new taxes would be between $100 billion to $200 billion a year. The cost per American household would be an extra $1,761 a year.

The documents (PDF) were obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by the free-market Competitive Enterprise Institute and released yesterday.

House Republican Leader John Boehner has estimated the additional tax bill would be at $366 billion a year, or $3,100 a year per family. The Heritage Foundation says that, by 2035, “the typical family of four will see its direct energy costs rise by over $1,500 per year.”

CNET says:

The FOIA’d document written by Judson Jaffe, who joined the Treasury Department’s Office of Environment and Energy in January 2009, says: “Given the administration’s proposal to auction all emission allowances, a cap-and-trade program could generate federal receipts on the order of $100 (billion) to $200 billion annually.” (Obviously, any final cap-and-trade system may be different from what Obama had proposed, and could yield higher or lower taxes.)

Because personal income tax revenues bring in around $1.37 trillion a year, a $200 billion additional tax would be the equivalent of a 15 percent increase a year. A $100 billion additional tax would represent a 7 percent or 8 percent increase a year.
One odd point: The document written by Jaffee includes this line: “It will raise energy prices and impose annual costs on the order of XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.” The Treasury Department redacted the rest of the sentence with a thick black line.

The Freedom of Information Act, of course, contains no this-might-embarrass-the-president exemption. You’d hope the presidential administration that boasts of being the “most open and transparent in history” would be more forthcoming than this.

Cap And Tax will result in windfall profits for GE (also owner of Obama propaganda vehicles MSNBC and NBC), Al Gore and Goldman Sachs (who has been awarded the plum job of making a market for trading carbon credits.)

Cap and Tax passed the House; now it is up to the Senate to stop it. This energy tax will put undo burdens on families who are already strapped due to the horrid economy. We must stand together and say NO to our Senators and Representatives, lest we be saddled with this insanity forever. Once passed, it will place our country under UN climate-change rule, and remove our sovereign governance.
