Barack Obama has his first picks already lined up for January and a few of them will be no surprise. At Chief of Staff, it’s widely expected that at Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill will be tapped later this week. Rahm worked the Clinton White House and is well known for his unwavering partisan stances, including his statement that “Republicans can go F@#$ themselves.” This must be that unity thing Obama was talking about.

George Stephanopoulos speculates on Obama’s other potential picks for cabinet:

In addition to his likely top choices for Treasury Secretary — Tim Geithner and Larry Summers — Obama is also likely to appoint some kind of emergency economic committee.

It could include heavyweights like former Treasury Secretary Bob Rubin, former head of Clinton’s council of economic advisors Laura Tyson, maybe former Federal Reserve chair Paul Volcker, and maybe even billionaire investor Warren Buffett.

Obama has said he plans to include Republicans in his cabinet, but so far the expected appointments haven’t included any.

Update: NBC is reporting that Rahm Emanuel has accepted the position. Rahm’s “people” have denied it. Check out Hot Air’s excerpt on why this will be a very disappointing choice for a campaign built around “hope” and “change”.

Update 2: Meet Secretary of State John Kerry. Seriously.

Update 3: It’s official. Rahm Emanuel, Clinton’s CoS, has accepted the position of Obama’s Chief of Staff. Welcome to Barack’s “Change” to the same ol’, same ol’. Will the pattern continue to develop into the ‘Clinton Years Part Duh’?
