Thank goodness for Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

Dems, now in nearly total control of Congress, have expressed their plans to rush a one trillion dollar stimulus plan through the House and Senate as to have it ready and waiting for Obama on Inauguration Day. Yes, $1,000,000,000,000, because that last stimulus package just did wonders for the economy, right?

Well McConnell has put his foot down and plans to block this lightning speed legislation until it can be opened up to the public first:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) Monday threw cold water on Democratic hopes of passing a massive economic stimulus package in time for President-elect Barack Obama’s Jan. 20 inauguration, exactly two weeks after the 111th Congress convenes for the new year.

With estimates for the stimulus package reaching as high as $1 trillion, McConnell called on his Senate colleagues to proceed with caution, hold a series of hearings and dedicate at least one week for public review.

This review will give us time to dig through it and see who is stuffing it with pork and pet projects. One trillion dollars is not something that should be shoved like a square peg through the round hole in the blink of an eye.

Obama isn’t even behind the big desk yet and the Dems are already drooling over how to spend us into a hole as fast as possible. It’s gonna be a long, dark 4 years.
