Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is threatening to completely eliminate California’s welfare program for families, medical insurance for low-income children and Cal-Grants cash assistance to college and university students.
The proposals to sharply scale back the assistance that California provides to its residents came in testimony by Schwarzenegger’s administration this afternoon at a joint legislative budget committee hearing. They followed comments by the Governator earlier today that he would be withdrawing a proposal to help balance the budget with billions of dollars of borrowing and replacing it with program reductions. He’s going all-in instead. Good for him. I see no other way to fix the problem, although there will be some truly needy people in trouble. Illegal immigrants, a HUGE part of the problem, are already pouring out of the state.
Ahhnald would completely reshape the state’s social service network, transforming California from one of the country’s most generous states to one of the most tightfisted. “No More Girly-Men.” His proposals are intended to help close a budget deficit estimated at $21.3 BILLION.

Why does the legislaturejust permit drilling for oil off the coast. Such a simple solution instead of hurting people and not providing needed services, BUT not to illegal immigrants.
What is the matter with these people?

This reeks of the classic bureaucratic response to compulsory spending cuts: target programs where cuts will cause the most pain and/or create the most outrage.
When people protest, tell them the only alternative is to shut up and accept a tax increase.
Popular threats include reducing police forces, mass closing of schools and releasing criminals from prison. Meanwhile, the executive jet and the bloated pay/benefits for multiple layers of bureaucracy remain untouched.
These threats that Ahnuld is making is a nice touch. Now liberals can avoid the issue of how their spending mania created this crisis and instead focus on how anti-tax voters (either conservative or brainwashed by conservatives) are sticking it to the poor and helpless. Make sure to repeat “heartless”, “mean” and “greedy” ad nauseum.

ANYONE WHO BELIEVES THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN IS SMOKING SOME GOOD STUFF.THIS SAME GOVENATOR JUST WENT ALONG WITH OUR FACIST LEANING PRESIDENTS NEW CAFE AND CO2 STANDARDS WHICH WILL COST MORE TAXES AND PROVIDE EVEN LESS PERSONAL FREEDOM.IT WAS ALL A SHAM TO SHOW REPUBLICAN SUPPORT FOR THE PROGRAM AND I GUARANTEE YOU THAT YOU AND I WILL THROUGH OUR SYMPATHY FOR THE PEOPLE AND OF COURSE HIGHER TAXES WILL BAIL OUT NOT ONLY CALIF.BUT N.Y. AND N.J. NEXT. THE ONLY WAY OUT IS TO THROW THEM OUT OF OFFICE AT THE FIRST CHANCE.

the “poor and helpless” will have to figure out that they might have to work and be personally accountable for themselves. Heartless, mean and greedy…..geez, that’s a kool aid drinker if I ever saw one. Hey Jay, why should I work my butt off to support LAZY PEOPLE AND ILLEGALS?? YOU PEOPLE ARE NUTS.
