Hillary Clinton Confirmation Vote Blocked By Single Senate Voice

The Senate confirmation vote on Hillary Clinton for secretary of state was blocked today when Senator John Cornyn raised concerns over her “pay to play” politics:
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said he wanted “a full and open debate and an up-or-down vote on Sen. Clinton’s nomination.”
He said important questions remain unanswered concerning the foundation headed by former President Bill Clinton “and its acceptance of donations from foreign entities. Transparency transcends partisan politics and the American people deserve to know more.”
Cornyn’s spokesman Kevin McLaughlin said the senator is not trying to block her confirmation, but is seeking more debate on the donation issue.
I’d love to hear any attempt at arguing against allowing a “full and open debate” on Clinton’s questionable actions in the appearance of rewarding big donors to her husband’s foundation. Unsurprisingly, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he’ll call for a roll call vote on Wednesday to force the issue. Apparently burying his head in the sand is what he feels to be an appropriate response to a valid set of concerns.
