GOP To New York Conservatives: RINOs Rule
Email This Post

The Republican National Committee has obviously learned zip from the Tea Party movement. They expected Dick Armey to deliver the patriots straight into their laps, but instead…Armey delivered a public rebuke to the RNC by echoing Sarah Palin’s pledge to support any candidate who promises to defend the Constitution and work for conservative principles.
The NY 23rd Congressional District race between Margaret Sanger award-winner Dede Scozzafava and Doug Hoffman is as hot as they come. Is the GOP supporting Hoffman, the conservative candidate? No. No, they’ve thrown their weight and considerable funds behind Scozzafava. They’re RINOs: Republicans In Name Only.
The RNC has made a huge contribution to support Scozzafava. Friday, it disclosed that it was making a six-figure transfer to the National Republican Campaign Committee to help in that race. The RNC is also giving $85,000 to the state party, the maximum allowed for a coordinated campaign, and has two staffers on the ground in the district.
In a letter to supporters, Newt Gingrich called the Nov. 3 special election “an important test” for the party in advance of the 2010 mid-term election. Scozzafava is “Our best chance to put responsible and principled leaders in Washington,” he said. The RNC has repeatedly attacked Doug Hoffman- despite his conservative platform.
So what’s the problem with Scozzafava? She’s pro-abortion, pro “card-check” and pro-big taxes. Politico details her supporters:
Fundraising reports for all the candidates in the New York special election are due today, but the candidates have been required to report all donations above $1,000 in the final weeks of the race.
And, to get a sense why conservatives have been so cool to her campaign, Republican Dede Scozzafava’s recent financial support has come primarily from abortion rights groups, labor unions and the National Education Association.
This week, Scozzafava received $1,000 from the Planned Parenthood PAC and $2,500 from the New York Choice PAC. The International Longshoreman’s Association and the United Transportation Union PAC each chipped in $2,500, while the local International Brotherhood of Electric Workers gave her $1,000. The National Education Association’s political action committee spent $5,000 for her campaign, while a renewable energy association donated $2,000.
Lets see…unions, abortionists and the always insane NEA. Dede was also endorsed by The Daily Kos. Fab. Was she the only socialist willing to run as a Republican? The GOP has obviously decided it will water-down or abandon any pretense of conservatism. Doug Hoffman needs all of our help; this is the first shot of the 2010 battle. Hoffman sure hasn’t gotten any Republican love, yet has managed to fight his way from 16% support against Scozzafava’s 35%, to 23% to Scozzafava’s 29%. Kick him a couple of bucks so the RINOs get the message. As Doug says: “It’s time for conservatives to show the Republican establishment who’s in charge.”
