“Free Market Warrior” Forced To Close Conservative Shop

Ah, it’s official. Anti-Obama merchandise is “racist” and constitutes the dreaded “hate speech.” (Of course, anti-Bush, Cheney and conservative speech is A-OK!) The Dear Leader’s hypnotic influence on the sheep in America is alive and well, and unfortunately for the Free Market Warrior store in Concord, NC…it means being forced to close shop because of the “crime” of selling right-leaning merchandise.
A sample of the messages at the Free Market Warrior include:
“Al Qaeda’s favorite days: 9/11/01 and 11/04/08.”
“Work Harder. Obama needs the money.”
Shocking stuff, huh. So shocking that at the end of this month, Free Market Warrior will not be allowed at Concord Mills Mall. The kiosk chain’s owner Loren Spivack shared e-mail correspondence with local station NewsChannel 36 that reveals that mall management decided that the items sold are not “neutral” enough.
Spivack, who first leased the space this spring, says the decision came as a shock to him. He says mall management seemed pleased with the kiosk just a few weeks ago.
“Nobody in that mall is selling anything from a conservative perspective. Plenty of people are selling things with a liberal perspective, with a pro-Obama perspective,” he said. “Given that we are in America and not North Korea, we probably should have some stuff on the other side.”
Spivack says he’s careful not to sell things that personally attack a politician and wants a fair exchange of ideas.
“The material that I sell is about politics and ideas. It’s all legitimate criticism.”
Ah, not under the rule of Obama. Freedom of speech is so 2007. Look for more of this silencing to come in the future, as “hate crimes” are the offenses de jour. As I’ve said before, it isn’t a big leap from “hate crimes” to “thought crimes.” Make your choices, dear readers. Stand up with your home-made shirts and bumper-stickers until the thought police come for you.
Atlas Shrugs says Atlanta readers point out that Simon Properties- who own the Concord Mall, are the same group that shut down the Atlanta Tea Party.
Coincidence? I think not.
