This weekend, various Obama players were in the media playing down the chances of a “public option” component becoming part of Obamacare. Abortion cheerleader HHS Kathleen Sebelius told CNN that the government option was “not the essential element” to ensure competition in the health insurance market. Politico says the Administration has “backed down” on the issue. The New York Times declared that “The Health Debate Fails To Ignite Obama’s Grass Roots.” There is talk that Obamacare doesn’t have enough votes in the Senate as is.

Don’t buy the hype. Obama is an avowed proponent of a single payer system, and his party has said the “nuclear option”, reconciliation, is on the table to pass Obamacare.

Reconciliation is a twisted tactic which allows the Senate to pass legislation with a simple majority vote, vs. the usually required 2/3. They’ve used it before. They’ve also crammed stuff into bills at 3am and passed them before the ink was dry.

This little “white flag” from the Administration is nothing more than an opinion poll to see how outraged the left will get if a single-payer option isn’t part of Obamacare. The Administration made a short statement on Kathleen Sebelius’ remarks, saying she “misspoke.” Screamin’ Howard Dean declared this morning that: “It will pass with the public option, and the president will sign it sometime in December.”

So don’t get complacent. All of the same dirty players are still in Washington. Keep up the fight- we may have won a battle, but there is still a war raging.
