Did Hillary Clinton Engage In ‘Pay to Play’ Political Bribes?
Email This Post
Hot on the heels of a second major Democrat accused of accepting political bribes, the New York Times’s IHT is detailing suspicious actions by Hillary Clinton during her term as Senator of NY for potentially doing the very same “pay to play” politics.
Those shady actions include Clinton securing millions in government funding just before and after the developer, Robert Congel, made donations to Hillary’s campaign and a $100,000 donation to Bill Clinton’s foundation.
A developer in New York state donated $100,000 to former President Bill Clinton’s foundation in November 2004, around the same time that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton helped secure millions of dollars in federal assistance for the businessman’s mall project.
Hillary Clinton helped enact legislation allowing the developer, Robert Congel, to use tax-exempt bonds to help finance the construction of the Destiny USA entertainment and shopping complex, an expansion of the Carousel Center in Syracuse.
She also helped secure a provision in a highway bill that set aside $5 million for Destiny USA roadway construction.
The bill with the tax-free bonds provision became law in October 2004, weeks before the donation, and the highway bill with the set-aside became law in August 2005, about nine months after the donation.
…His contribution is the only known situation so far in which an American donor gave a large sum to Bill Clinton’s foundation while benefiting from his wife’s official actions.
…Congel has also given campaign donations to Hillary Clinton and other New York Democrats.
Even the mere appearance of impropriety should have been enough for either Clinton to turn down Congel’s donations. There is no “oh, this looks back, but really it’s not.” Rule to live by: if it looks bad, don’t do it!
It seems as though a day hasn’t gone by recently without another corruption revelation amongst top level Democrats. Regardless of the political affiliation it saddens me to see these types of acts that have no business taking place amongst our elected officials. We trust those officials with our country and this is how they treat us?
