Christine Romer Needs To Sober Up
Email This Post
We’re not all buying the about-face cheerleading from the Obama administration, and every time I see Economic Advisor Christine Romer, I want to burn her damn pom-poms. Every single time.
Christine says the Obama administration is staging a “wonderful battle” in an economic war that hasn’t been won. Kudos to David Gregory on “Meet the Press” for not drinking all of the Kool-aid. Proselytizeth Christine:
The current situation as a temporary mess, and the Obama economic team has prescribed “incredible medicine” and comprehensive programs to “put us back in a good place. We have put in place the biggest, boldest recovery package in history….incredible medicine for economy, and we fully expect it to work. She maintained that the fundamentals of the U.S. economy are sound and continues to expect a turnaround in the second half of the year. “We have our eyes on the fundamentals….the day-to-day ups and downs of the stock market are a bad way to judge policy,” she said, voicing one of the mandatory mantras of the Obama administration.
Those of you who haven’t had an opportunity to see Christine in action, may think she’s being so dang chirpy in an effort to fake out the G-20. You would be wrong. She’s ALWAYS this way.

She also needs to learn to answer a question. Less than half the time does she actually answer a question. She usually starts with “Look, what we’re doing here is…” It’s getting sickening.

Romer publishes research papers that have conclusions exactly opposite of what she is doing with the Obama Administration. One of Romer’s studies concluded that reducing taxes and reducing the size and scope of government was the best way to get out of a recession. Hmmmmmm.
Maybe she has been hanging around Jared “The-King-of-Spin” Bernstein and his Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from the Manhattan School of Music (what an economist!). She’s learned to “Spin” from Jared.
