Cheney And Obama Have A Smackdown Over Gitmo

It’s an unprecedented “clash of the Titans”. Obama is ignoring Congress and it’s 90-6 vote to deny him the funding he wants to close Guantanamo Bay, and delivered a speech reiterating his determination to follow through on this insanity. Minutes later, a speech (which had been scheduled before Obama’s) came from the man who has emerged as his arch-tormentor, Dick Cheney. This all against the backdrop of the FBI’s successful thwarting of a bomb and surface-to-air missile attack on New York by homegrown, Islamic terrorists. Punk, you bastards.

Cheney is obviously not going quietly into that good night, and he blasted out an uncompromising attack on Obama for proposing to close Guantanamo, for revealing interrogation methods used by CIA agents, for labeling these methods torture and for allegedly putting US security at risk. He told the American Enterprise Institute:

“The administration has found that it’s easy to receive applause in Europe for closing Guantanamo. But it’s tricky to come up with an alternative that will serve the interests of justice and America’s national security.”

Obama, who doesn’t have a PLAN for handling the terrorists he’s dying to bring to America, spoke at the National Archives in Washington, (masterfully staged to give him the “echo of God”) and insisted he intended to stick to his plan to transfer some of the detainees to the US mainland. Barry says this should not be a problem as they would be placed in super-max prisons from which no-one had ever escaped. He then used the usual finger-pointing at the Bush administration as his logic for this idiocy. Dawg, that crap is TIRED. It’s time to put on your big-boy pants.

What laws would govern any prosecution on American soil of these captured terrorists? Obama wants to put them in super-max facilities along with hundreds of violent criminals. Those criminals, however, have rights under American law. The Gitmo terrorists CURRENTLY do not. But… Obama wants to provide an O.J. Simpson for them. Kumbayah.

These people are too dangerous to be held in the U.S., not because our prisons can’t keep them from escaping, but because those prisons are regularly releasing dangerous criminals…including terrorists. Obama is a fool not to listen to Cheney AND to Congress, who finally got one right.
