CA Rep Eshoo (D) Pushes To Re-enact Fairness Doctrine, Silence Free Speech
Email This Post
One of the scariest things to come out of the November elections was the renewed interest in the Fairness Doctrine. Struck down by the FCC during Reagan’s administration in 1987, the Fairness Doctrine is a forced compliance of broadcast radio and television to provide equal air time for all opposing ideas. Basically it’s the government telling you what, when, and where to say it. Who needs freedom of speech anyway, right?
With the conservative monopoly on talk radio this emergence of push for the doctrine’s return has come unsurprisingly from the liberal agenda. The arguments have been weak and at their worst consisted of ignorant claims that it should be re-enacted because it’s, not kidding, “fair.”
Now we’ve got Anna Eshoo (D-CA) announcing her support for the Fairness Doctrine:
Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (pictured), D-Palo Alto, said Monday she will work to restore the Fairness Doctrine and have it apply to cable and satellite programming as well as radio and TV.
“I’ll work on bringing it back. I still believe in it,” Eshoo told the Daily Post in Palo Alto.
Eshoo said she would recommend the doctrine be applied not only to radio and TV broadcasts, but also to cable and satellite services.
“It should and will affect everyone,” she said.
She called the present system “unfair,” and said “there should be equal time for the spoken word.”
The government should never infringe on private citizens’ rights to freedom of speech. This isn’t (yet) some socialist or dictatorship society where all citizens must march lock step with the views of their leaders.
Where does the line get drawn? Should this spill over to sports? Should the country radio station have to provide equal time for classic rock? Hell, how long before the Dems start telling me I have to write balancing coverage of Barry as when I slam him?
Here’s an idea for the bleeding liberals. If you don’t like listening to Rush why not turn on MSNBC and let Chris Matthew’s love of Obama overwhelm you for a change. Considering the MSM’s hard stance in favor of Obama and Dems it’s ludicrous to cry for balanced air time. Get out of my airwaves and off my rights.

IF, this happens Americans all across the nation will stand and hold a revolution. This government is out of control! They all need to resign asap because voting them out will not do any good–I call for the resignations of every democrat who was part of the scam to bring America to her knees-Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank and the rest of the criminal thugs–Obama and his thugs. This is not a democracy, this is nothing but a private mafia. Bring on the FBI to clear them out and put them where they belong—-prison for every crime committed against America and her people.

The media is a great tool to influence people who don’t know any better. I work long hours and do the work that it would normally take 4 union workers to accomplish. I am lucky to have a few hours in a month to catch up on news unless I have a chance to read a paper. I thought we were doing poorly in Iraq and Afghanistan based upon what I read in the newspaper. Talking to returning military personnel and family members of civilian workers in our areas of operation, I learned that our media was purposely misleading the public on the truth concerning our successes overseas. Listening to Rush on the radio, during my long ride home, he seemed to talk about matters I knew to be true. I never saw coverage on any other candidates other than Mc Cain and Obama. Anything concerning Republicans was always negative except for Rush’s program. I just want the truth and fairness when it comes to news. I don’t want the smoke and mirrors. I want to be informed, not fooled!
