The “pay to play” scandal surrounding Obama’s vacant Senate seat has continued to go deeper and deeper as the days pass. Meanwhile we’ve heard little but cries of innocence from Gov. Blagojevich. Well Hot Rod Blagojevich is ready to tell his side of the story to the public and will do so by Thursday. “Maybe.”

“I can’t wait to begin to tell my side of the story and to address you guys and, most importantly, the people of Illinois. That’s who I’m dying to talk to,” he [Blagojevich] said as he left his home Wednesday morning for a jog.

“There’s a time and place for everything. That day will soon be here and you might know more about that today, maybe no later than tomorrow.”

Blagojevich’s lawyer is heading off today to sit in on the hearings amongst the Illinois House committee as they determine how best to handle this mess. Considering the mounting pressure on Blago I won’t be surprised to see him start rolling and throwing as many of his cronies under the bus to save his own hide.

The big question is how close will Team Obama be to that blast of finger pointing? I think we already know where Rahm stands. Now for Barry’s turn at more lies.

Update: Blago’s lawyer, Ed Genson, is challenging the committee’s impeachment move as illegal:

Lawyer Ed Genson also argued it would be illegal for the committee to use material from government wiretaps, and he objected to the panel’s rules because they don’t provide a clear standard for deciding whether to recommend impeachment.

The chairwoman, Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie, D-Chicago, rejected Genson’s challenges.

Genson’s appearance offered the first real look at Blagojevich’s response to the allegations against him. His attitude suggests the Chicago Democrat will fight every step of the way rather than strike a conciliatory tone.

I wonder how big of a bribe he’d take to just resign.
