It’s no mystery that Barack Obama’s religion has been heavily scrutinized under suspect of not really being a Christian. Considering he first joined a church twenty years ago because he was being pressured to do so because his “community organizer” office was located in the church, this suspicion should come as no surprise.

In an interview with Cathleen Falsani of the Chicago Sun Times, Barack Obama made the claim that he didn’t believe the path to salvation was through Christ, you know, the whole “Christ” part of “Christianity”:

Obama: There’s the belief, certainly in some quarters, that people haven’t embraced Jesus Christ as their personal savior that they’re going to hell.

Falsani: You don’t believe that?

Obama: I find it hard to believe that my God would consign four-fifths of the world to hell. I can’t imagine that my God would allow some little Hindu kid in India who never interacts with the Christian faith to somehow burn for all eternity. That’s just not part of my religious makeup.”

“There’s the belief.” Yeah, that’s pretty much the cornerstone of Christianity, Obama, which clearly isn’t part of your religious makeup.

What could be his motivation for such a stance? Obama’s mother was an atheist.

What do you think? Can you be a Christian but not require Christ? Tell me.
